Sweet Afternoon

This is my take on a Sweet Afternoon or Dolce Pomeriggio. It’s a rather slick and sexy martini with an elegant clear appearance and intriguing green tint coming from the Herbas. The original is made with Amaro Pratum rather than Herbas. The flavours are complex and perfectly balanced—bitter herbs from the Herbas, sweetness from the Cocchi and crème de cacao, and freshness from the lemon juice, all moderated by the fruity heat of the grappa.

Ingredients

  • 20ml Americano Cocchi

  • 20ml Grappa di Moscato

  • 10ml Porto do Miño Herbas (the original uses Amaro Pratum)

  • 10ml Crème de Cacao Blanc

  • 10ml freshly squeezed and sieved lemon juice

Instructions

1. Squeeze the lemon juice and sieve to remove any pulp.

2. Pour the ingredients into the glass half of a shaker.

3. Add ice cubes and stir for a minute or so.

4. Strain into a chilled Nick and Nora glass.
